The Perfect Present

When we gasp our last breath on earth, we won’t be thinking about that item hoped to have.
Instead we’ll remember the greatest gift anyone can give you… the investment of their time, energy and themselves. Those memories will be imprinted on your mind, heart, and soul.

Discover

We are all complex beings with many traits, characteristics and beliefs.

Unfortunately, too many people make snap judgements about others without digging deeper and discovering who they really are. If they did they may discover that they are more alike than they realize. Take a chance and be curious about the people you meet. At the very least, you may learn and expand their world view.

The Bridge – Spoken Word Poetry

When you go through challenging times it is easy to feel like you are alone and that you don’t matter. We can get so clouded in today’s challenges that we don’t see tomorrow’s blessings. As this story illustrates, we need to look out for each other and when we see someone struggling help out. You never know how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

Trust

Trust is built by many consistent actions and it helps build strong relationships. It is also fragile and can be shattered in an instant by one selfish act. Once shattered it takes a long time to rebuild and it will never be as strong as it was before. So cherish the trust someone has in you and don’t take it for granted. How do you build trust with the ones you care for?

Listen

It is amazing how much you can learn about people by listening. Not just what they say, but how they say it (the words they choose and the tone they choose) and in what context they are saying it. Be curious, ask questions, then close your mouth, open your ears and listen and learn.

Your Values

Your values are a driving force in your life.
They have a tremendous influence on your attitudes and your actions.
They showcase to the world what you truly believe.
What do your values reveal about you?

Decide

If one look is all you took,
You only read the cover, not the book.
One look, for you to decide,
Which category I reside.
You know, when you think with prejudice, 
A connection you will miss.

Because fear will provide, 
lots of reasons to divide.
The choice is yours. 
It's up to you to decide.
Don't let hate, 
dictate how you evaluate.
Decide how you connect, 
and how you can relate.

Don't just label me, 
Engage your curiosity.
Hear my stories, learn my history,
Get to know me, uncover my mystery.
Then you'll see me as a whole, 
Then you'll see inside my soul.

Because fear will provide, 
lots of reasons to divide.
The choice is yours. 
It's up to you to decide.
Don't let hate, 
dictate how you evaluate.
Decide how you connect, 
and how you can relate.

To me... It doesn't matter,
if you are a beauty queen or hardly seen,
or gay or straight or in between.
It doesn't matter, 
if you are red, yellow, brown, black or white.
because that is NO reason to cause a fight.
It doesn't matter, 
your religious or political lens,
because I use character to choose my friends.

And the more you discover the book, 
not just the cover.
The more you recover from an impression,
that leads to aggression and depression.
Instead, connect where we are the same inside,
Because that's where you'll see our relationship thrive.

Because fear will provide, 
lots of reasons to divide.
The choice is yours. 
It's up to you to decide.
Don't let hate, 
dictate how you evaluate.
YOU decide how you connect, 
and how you can relate.

Fear will provide,
LOTS of reasons to divide.
But the CHOICE is yours….
